Terms of service

The agreement between you and Lumina when you order. Written plainly, because terms nobody can read protect nobody.

Last updated 5 August 2026

Who we are

Lumina is an online studio that turns a photograph you upload into an original portrait, then prints it on products made to order. We trade at luminaportrait.com and can be reached at support@lumina-art.studio. Manufacturing and delivery are carried out on our behalf by a print-on-demand partner with facilities in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States.

How an order is formed

Adding an item to your basket is not an order. A contract exists only once your payment has been authorised and we have sent you an order confirmation by email. If we cannot fulfil an order — because a product is withdrawn, a price was displayed in error, or the artwork cannot be printed at the required quality — we will tell you and refund you in full. We do not part-fulfil silently.

You see your finished artwork before you pay. That is deliberate: it means the thing you are agreeing to buy is the thing already on your screen, not a description of it.

Prices, currency and tax

Prices are shown in your local currency where we support it, and the amount shown at checkout is the amount charged. Shipping is free to all 21 destinations we serve, with no minimum basket. Currency conversion is applied at our own published rate, not at the interbank rate, so a price may differ slightly from a direct conversion of the sterling figure. Your card issuer may apply its own fees for a foreign-currency transaction, which we neither set nor receive.

Your photograph, and the rights in it

You keep ownership of every photograph you upload. By uploading one you confirm that you took it or otherwise have the right to use it, and you grant us permission to process it for the single purpose of producing your portrait and fulfilling your order. That permission is limited to what the order requires.

We do not use your photographs or your portraits in advertising, on this site, or to train any model. If we ever wanted to feature your portrait, we would ask you first and accept no as an answer.

The portrait generated from your photograph is yours to keep, print and share for your own personal use. Reselling it, or the files we produce, as stock artwork or as your own product is not permitted.

What we will not print

We refuse orders involving photographs of a person who has not consented, images of children uploaded by someone other than their parent or guardian, sexual content, material that promotes hatred or violence, and anything that infringes another party's copyright or trade marks. Where we refuse, you are refunded in full.

Delivery, cancellation and returns

Production and delivery times are set out on the shipping page, per product. Because every item carries artwork made for one customer, your rights to cancel are narrower than for an off-the-shelf product — the detail, and what we do when something is genuinely wrong, is on the returns page. Read it before you order rather than after.

What we are responsible for, and what we are not

We are responsible for the product arriving as ordered and matching the artwork you approved. We are not responsible for a portrait not resembling your pet or your subject where the photograph supplied was too dark, too small, too blurred or too distant to work from — which is why we show you the artwork before payment and offer a photo guide at the upload step.

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer, or our liability for death, personal injury or fraud. Where the law gives you more than these terms do, the law wins.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country and may bring proceedings there.

A note on our registration details

A UK trader is required to publish its registered company name, company number and registered office address. Ours are not yet shown here. Rather than print something unverified, we have left the gap visible: if you need these details before ordering, email support@lumina-art.studio and we will send them to you.
